Mixer Latino
“The Spring Latino Mixer event provided a glimpse of the diversity of small businesses & entrepreneurs in the Coachella Valley/Palm Spring communities. One of the few Latino focused events conducted completely in Spanish, it provided exhibitors like myself the opportunity to meet and connect with real micro-businesses (which account for nearly 92% of the small business community).
As the Southern California Outreach Manager and National Hispanic Outreach Manager for a national, non-profit organization, Small Business Majority, I’m always looking for opportunities to talk about our advocacy and educational efforts with small business owners. Traveling across Southern California I have the opportunity to connect with great Strategic Partners that include, SCORE, the SBA, SBDCs, various chambers and other business groups to amplify our message. I’m looking forward to building a partnership with Get in Motion that is fostering the education many Latino small business owners need. By bringing these valuable resources together to undeserved populations like the Latino small business community–this organization definitely is making a difference! Glad to say our footprint in the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs communities will increase through our collective efforts. Gracias por la oportunidad, Armando! “

Armando: First of all, thank you once again for inviting Coachella Valley SCORE to exhibit at your Latino mixer. As you know, our mission is to help business entrepreneurs in the Valley either start or grow their businesses. Coachella Valley SCORE constantly tries to identify any possible opportunity to get our message out to the Valley residents who, for the most part, are unaware of the FREE services we offer. It is even a larger challenge within the Latino community as our Latino share of SCORE clients does not reflect the size of the actual Latino community in the Coachella Valley. Because it is our job to service the entire community, we understand that we are failing in our attempt to engage the Latino business community and have recently made Latino business engagement our chapter’s #1 priority.
Exhibiting at your Latino mixer gave us (CV- SCORE) the opportunity to reach out into the Latino business community. Not only was I pleasantly surprised by the huge turn-out but even more excited by the positive reaction SCORE volunteers received from your attendees. We were able to connect with 7 Latino business owners who expressed sincere interest in scheduling a mentoring session with a Coachella Valley SCORE- more than any other event where we have exhibited.
Coachella Valley SCORE has already agreed to host a monthly workshop for Get In Motion clients and we have invited Armando to participate in our Hispanic Business Engagement initiative which is being led by Congressman Ruiz’ office. We fully see the value in what Armando brings to the table and look forward to ‘partnering’ with Armando in the future to help grow Latino business in the Valley.
Best Regards, Jeff

Thank you Armando for having us at the Latino Mixer. I have nothing but positive things to say about this event, the most important thing about networking is allowing others to see what you can offer them in regards to making businesses more successful, that is something I witnessed last Thursday. The support from the Latin community is very positive in these events which is something that needs to remain because we as Latinos forget to help each other at moments due to letting pride take over and instead of giving our support and lend a hand to one another we become the competition amongst ourselves. These events from what I can see are helping bring the community closer, the Latinos closer and you can feel positive energy in the room, everyone is trying to help each other there. The motion is definitely in the room with Armando as his personality is very welcoming to everyone. The opportunity I can see for myself is helping small business grow, succeed and be more financially stable in their business and in their personal life’s. If we continue to support the diversity in small businesses there will be more opportunity for our future and the future of our children!
Again thank you very much Armando, I hope to work with you soon –
